So it seems PR2.0 will arrive in the next few weeks as a new firmware update was spotted on Nokia's servers. The new firmware is only available for the Nokia C7 (RM-691). Please bear in mind though that this version is not yet final, so it may have bugs and other errors. We should see this update soon on other Symbian^3 devices too.

My Nokia Blog got a tip from Alberto showing a photo of an unannounced Nokia phone. It have a touch screen, a keypad, oh and it also slides up and down!
Picture
If the keypad is closed, the phone looks like the Nokia C5-03.

Nokia Philippines has already set-up a pre-order page for the most anticipated business smartphone of the year, the Nokia E7. It comes with a 4-inch ClearBlack Display AMOLED tocuh screen, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 16GB of storage, 8 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording and much more.

Oh, just like what Nokia Philippines did on the Nokia N8 pre-order, they are giving away FREE Nokia Extra Power DC-11K. If you remember, Nokia Philippines gave away FREE 16GB flash drive loaded with How I Met Your Mother episodes that you can watch on your N8 via USB On-the-Go.

I expect the Nokia E7 to retail at approximately P30,000 and above and you can get yours in the next few weeks.

UPDATE: Nokia E7 will have a SRP of P32,000 here in the Philippines. The preorder period will start on March 14, 2011 and will end on March 22, 2011. So we can expect the E7 to be generally available by the last week of March.

UPDATE 2: Nokia Philippines has told us that only the first 500 pre-order customers will get a free DC-11K and that the pick up dates for the pre-ordered Nokia E7 units are from March 26 to 28, 2011.

So this is it! The Nokia BH-905i already arrived here and we just unboxed it. But since this is the first time that I will do an unboxing video, I was not that prepared. I used my Nokia N8 to shoot the video and I have no tripod at the moment. Peace! :D

Nokia N8 has an anodized aluminum body, which is pretty nice to prevent it from scratches. However, the anodized aluminum body itself is slippery when held with your hand and there is a high chance that you might drop it on the floor. There is a solution for this, Nokia created a silicon case called Nokia Silicone Cover CC-1005.

It comes in four different colors, which are blue, grey, lime and pink. If you have a dark grey Nokia N8 then you may want to get the grey silicone cover, or if want to change the looks of your N8, you may go for the blue, lime, or pink.
The silicone case has a good rubberized texture, giving you a better grip for your N8. It also doesn't get out of its shape, when you fold it, or crumple it, it will get back to it's original shape. The buttons are all covered. The micro SD card slot and the SIM card slot is also covered. It will require you to remove the case just to remove the memory card or the SIM card. Anyway, it stops the dust from entering the slots. The only parts that are exposed is the micro USB slot, HDMI slot, 3.5mm audio jack slot, charger slot and the wrist-strap hole, of course. On the back there is a replica of the Nseries logo. The camera part is covered too, and it's nice so the protruding part of the camera won't get scratched when you put the N8 on a surface. The only thing I don't like is it adds extra millimeters to the body of the N8. Anyway, you'll get used to it in some days.

Nokia Silicone Cover CC-1005 for Nokia N8 is available for purchase at Nokia Online Store US for $9.95, however, they are temporarily out-of-stock for this one. You can signup to be notified when it's available again though. You may also get it at my preferred eBay seller for only £5.25 (about $8.54) exclusive of shipping fees, just click here. Or if you're in the Philippines, just go to your nearest Nokia Store and ask if they have some stocks.

Nokia Beta Labs have released another update for the Ovi Maps 3.06. The latest update allow you to check-in to Foursquare and Qype. It also have a new feature. For now, you have the ability to add a public place!
  • New! Support for Foursquare and Qype! – check in to Foursquare as you check in with us and share where you’re at and what you’re up to on your favourite social networks. Our list keeps growing! You may need to match the place on Ovi for us to the corresponding one on Foursquare or Qype, but we’ll remember that link. Next time you check into the same place you won’t have to do that anymore.
  • New! Adding a public placeyou’re one Check in away from becoming mayor at your favorite coffee place but Ovi doesn’t know it yet? Add it with a few simple steps and you’re ready to Check in. Once it’s been reviewed everyone else will be able to find it in Maps, too.
Oh and you don't have to download the latest version of Ovi Maps 3.06. You will have to wait for up to 12 hours to get the new Social Networks fetched by your phone.

And here are the know issues for this update:
New Check in translations: Some languages contain fairly bad translations. We’re aware of issues in Greek, German and Finnish so far. Let us know if you see any other translations that don’t make sense!

New Qype check in: Qype has a 3-minute time limitation for a second checkin in that timeframe. If you don’t wait at least 3 minutes until your next check in, it will fail.

New Check in: If you’re trying to post to a location-based social network (Foursquare, Qype) and that network doesn’t know any places for the area your in, checking in will fail for that network with a generic error message. Retrying won’t help :-) we’re working on a more accurate error message for this case. Sometimes private check in fails and pressing the “Retry” button claims that all posts have gone through, even though nothing was posted after all.

New LiveJournal or Hyves: When you add a LiveJournal or Hyves account, only the username can be used (the text incorrectly claims that your email address also works).

New Doing your first Foursquare & Qype checkin: Please be aware that it might be the case that you have to wait up to 12 hours to get the new Social Networks fetched by your phone.

Head on at Nokia Beta Labs and give your feedback. It's important for them to improve Ovi Maps. ;)

In case you didn't noticed, there is a new update available for your Symbian^3 phone named Quick search update. It is categorized as a recommended update. To get the latest update, open Menu > Applications > SW update

Alright! This is the first tip that I will post here on our blog. Here you go!

"Did you know the alarm will still sound even when your phone is switched off? So power down, save your battery, and relax - your phone will still wake you in the morning."

Be sure that the active profile is not set to "Silent" mode. If so, your phone will still alarm but you'll not hear it.
